Subject:  Lakota finishes - new record!

Steve Fossett and Lakota crossed the finish line in Hanalei Bay this morning, 7/5, at 10:28:26 PDT (7:28 local time).  Pat Zajac was there to record the finish - she says she spotted him on the horizon at 6:30 local time when he was about 15 miles out...he was doing a fast reach in from the north under reefed mainsail and a small jib, with a gorgeous sunrise for backdrop.  Elapsed time for his race was 7 days, 22 hours, 38 minutes, 26 seconds - taking almost a day off the previous record of 8 days, 20 hours, 3 minutes set by Peter Hogg in 1994 on his Antrim 40 Trimaran Aotea.

Congratulations to Steve!

The numbers for Endangered Species are much more reasonable numbers than what we had yesterday - also shows he passed the halfway mark sometime yesterday.  And Harrier hit halfway last night.
