Whitall is delivering his new vessel down the East coast. Zimax is confronting Joaquin as she moves south from Nova Scotia. Track her here: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0hY5s0j5DfsTg7mN5feaLVIzMbCKrVf ls

I hope he has a spare battery for his SPOT or a way to recharge it. It says it's LOW.

Not sure I'd want to be doing that delivery right now . . .

Zimaz is visiting Davy Jones' Locker somewhere off of Nova Scotia.

When I can get my thoughts together, I will post a discussion of what happened and any lessons learned to make something positive out of the tragedy.

Geez Louise, Whitall, this terrible thing happens to you and you are gracious enough to share the story. What a generous spirit you have and how awful the loss. My understanding is that it was an aluminum boat, and that you had new rudders w new rudder stock, being the very careful sailor people know you to be. The losses of Wildflower and now Zimaz are certainly cautionary tales of the power of nature. So sorry. Thank you for the post.

zimaz.net has been updated. I would post the whole thing here, but some of the photos are too large, and I'm too lazy to resize them.

I'm so sorry, Whitall. What a sobering cascade of disaster.

I add my condolences and best wishes for the future. There really didn't seem to be much that could have been done to avoid this, given the design and purchase of the boat. Hard to see where you could have done anything more after the events started piling up, either. Just curious, but I wonder what the designer has to say about the forward placement of the keel?

Wow, very rough luck. Thanks for sharing this story, especially with regard to E-rudders. I hope you can get some sort of boat organized and back on the water before too long.
