Racers and offshore cruisers,

As your race fleet captain this year, I am exploring bring a Safety at Sea course to Sequoia Yacht Club in the spring of 2018. I need some preliminary expression of interest to decide on the best plan.

Please reply to indicate if any of these options appeal to you (this is not a commitment, but please reply that you are interested if you estimate your probability of signing up is greater than 50%; choose as many as apply).

A. A two-day course that includes in the water demonstrations at the Redwood City Marina guest dock, on May 5 and 6, cost approximately $275.

B. A one-day course that is basically day 1 of the two-day course (no in-the-water demonstrations), on April 7 or 8, cost approximately $150 (with the option to sign up for day 2 at Encinal Yacht Club on April 14 or 15) .

C. A one-day course that is basically day 2 of the two-day course (includes in-the-water demonstrations at the Redwood City Marina guest dock), on May 5 or 6, cost approximately $150 (there is an option to complete day 1 online, that is a prerequisite for this class)

D. A one-day course that is basically day 1 of the two-day course (no in-the-water demonstrations), split into two 4-hour evening sessions on Wednesdays before the Sunset series starts, March 21 and 28. (with the option to sign up for day 2 at Encinal Yacht Club on April 14 or 15) .

These courses are:

· Moderated and taught by experienced, lifelong sailors who include some of the top names in sailing and safety.

· Designed for sailors of all types and levels — cruisers and racers, novices and experts.

· Appropriate for a wide range of boats — small, big, monohulls, multihulls (and powerboats, too) — that are sailed anywhere — near shore and offshore.

· Curriculum is certified by US Sailing, with special attention to conditions and challenges of the host organization’s sailing area.

Topics include:

Personal Safety Gear, Man Overboard, Emergency Communications, Search and Rescue, Heavy Weather, Storm Sails, Crew Health, Hypothermia, Jury Rigging and Repair, Fire Precautions, Lending Assistance, Life Rafts, Signals.

Best regards,

Stan
