Greetings:

We will hold our first LongPac seminar at Richmond YC on Saturday, April 25 from 09:00-13:00.

I'd like to first thank those sailors that have agreed to help out the Race Committee with various duties regarding the LongPac in whatever capacity they are able:

-Darren Doud
-Christian Humann
-Tom Kirschbaum
-Nick Ratto
-Robbie Gabriel
-Robert & Jeanne Crawford

As many of you know, this will be the first year that boat inspections will be performed. With that, the following members -all Transpac veterans- have graciously agreed to inspect your boats:

-Alan Hebert
-Bob Johnston
-Rob MacFarlane
-Greg Morris
-Greg Nelson
-Synthia Petroka

Boat inspection deadline is set for July 15, 2009. I ask that those participating in the race, please schedule your inspections as soon as possible with the RC. Out of respect for each boat inspectors' time, as well as the fact that a majority of these volunteers will also be racing in the LongPac event, that the earlier the better for boat inspections would be greatly appreciated.

The LongPac seminar will discuss items regarding:

-minimum equipment requirements
-boat inspection process
-energy budget
-communication via VHF, SSB, etc.
-liferaft
-provisioning
-medical kit
-weather information
-qualifier log
-compass deviation card
-entry form requirements

Morning refreshments (coffee and donuts) will be provided, and since the club has a grill, you are more than welcome to stick around and cook burgers and hotdogs.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at this meeting.

Thanks,

Ruben 'OnceMoore' Gabriel

Thanks, Mark! Renaming of the boat is credited to my dear wife.
