At 13:30, Second Verse decided to retire from the race. He has been taking on water through his rudder post and will come back to take a better look. He's doing well.

In addition, Velocious retired from the race this morning and is safe and sound in Richmond.

Hecla crossed the finish line at GGYC this evening (7/31/09) at 20:40:14.

It was great to see him sail under the Golden Gate Bridge through all the fog and mist.

Great sail, Jeff! Welcome back.

I am monitoring Channel 71 (VHF, from my home near Bodega Bay) and have just heard Ergo report that they have "pulled the plug" due to lack of wind and scheduled shoreside committments. They are motoring home, and are otherwise in good shape.

Trunk Monkey, Farr 30, finished at 19:39:55 on 8/1/09

Coyote, Beneteau First 42, finished at 20:09:41 on 8/1/09

Outsider, Azzura 310, finished at 20:24:30 on 8/1/09

Green Buffalo, Cal 40, finished at 20:44:27 on 8/1/09

===================================

Trunk Monkey flew in under the GG bridge looking as pretty as ever with the big white kite up. After finishing, their takedown was textbook! Nice race.

Coyote had a wicked spinnaker wrap, and it looked like there were some rips, but all of a sudden, the remains of the kite filled and he pulled it down right at the finish...very nice work, Steve!

Outsider also came in cranking on all cylinders under the gate with a huge kite up, and after finishing, a quick jibe, then bye bye.

Green Buffalo came in while it was dark, with his lovely wife anxiously awaiting his arrival. She picked up the VHF and welcomed his finish!

Nice race guys...and gal!

Poco Loco, Mini Transat Zero, finished at 03:06:17 on 8/2/09...but declared a DNF.

Nancy, Wyliecat 30, finished at 03:21:47 on 8/2/09

RedSky, Olson 34, finished at 04:19:38 on 8/2/09

Gavilan, Wylie 39, finished at 06:49:30 on 8/2/09

Great White, Express 27, finished at 07:12:14 on 8/2/09

Ergo, Ericson 35 MkII declared a DNF, and crossed under the GG bridge on 8/2/09 at around 07:45.
================================================== ==============

Poco Loco sailed through the finish line with the mainsail up only, then hailed RC notifying they were DNF.

Nancy sailed through the finish line with the one big mainsail up and looked very svelt.

RedSky sailed through the finish line with a headsail that was stuck at the bottom of his tuff luff. He pulled into a slip and RC assisted him with taking down the sail. Brian then rested for a couple hours, woke up, then said good-bye.

Gavilan is a really nice looking boat! Was helpful in assisting RC with relaying communication to Great White.

Great White sailed through the finish with their spinnaker full and wide awake! Welcome back.

Ergo crossed under the GG bridge around 07:45 and declared a DNF.

Race Committee is feeling groggy today, but having just had a nice hot shower and a big breakfast, we're ready for the day! Where's the sun? :confused:

Both Solar Wind and Culebra are back from the race and safe. They have both declared a DNF due to poor wind conditions. Looks like the first boats to the line to make the turn was the difference between a little breeze and no breeze :( Welcome back guys.

One of the "unofficial" entrants --Mirage-- just finished (21:35)! He's securely tied up in front of the RC hotel boat, and we're all celebrating with some tasty Sailor Jerry Rum and sweet treats. Welcome back, Ben! We're now waiting for TAZ!!, Elise, and Bar-ba-loot. They should be arriving within the next couple hours. Maybe we should take it easy on the rum...maybe not. :D
