On Sailing Anarchy I read about a regatta in Charleston which anticipates more than 200 entries. They have produced a classy small poster for this event. Might there be any interest by SSS of creating such a poster for next year's Three Bridge Fiasco, or even an arty poster of our annual calendar? Here's the poster: 67

Seems 3BF doesn't have a marketing problem - we just need more single-handed entries. Having a poster of the calendar is a good idea though. I'd put a bunch of them up.

The SA folks who push Charleston so much are just trying to bury KWRW. It's a vendetta they have over there. (I'm sick of that place.)

What is KWRW? I just like the poster, didn't know the politics. I'd frame ours, especially if it featured a single handed sailor. Like a poster of an art exhibit, which is not a disimilar event, I think.

So you're thinking more of a memento than a publicity poster - an "I survived the Three Bridge Fiasco" idea?

KWRW is Key West Race Week. It's a long story that is best told/read elsewhere. After nine years of being a regular at SA, I no longer post there.

Some of the locals started a sailing site called Pressure-Drop.us that has grown a lot over this past year. It is relatively free of the anonymous hostility that characterizes SA. On PD under West Coast Sailing, there are over 300 posts about this year's 3BF including lots of photos.

And what about norcalsailing.com? No forum hostility at all...

Absolutely!

Plus there appears to be a lot of cross-support between the two (PD and NorCalSailing). Jonathan, you were wise to not try to start a sailing forum!

I don't know how many people saw the Coastal Cleanup Day posters from September of last year, but they were beautifully photographed collections of colored trash. Kinkos makes colored 11x15 copies for .45 each. I was thinking of a single poster with a photo of one of our members single handing his/her boat on the bay, digitally copied from the net onto an annual event calendar for the year and printed up @ Kinkos. They could be printed up as requested, and handed out @ skipper's meetings but not mailed. I would be happy to do a mock up. Nothing expensive, just a ... memento was your word. Question is: who wants to email me a photo?

How about a photo of Robert Crawford sailing BLACK FEATHERS?

Or on that same Cal 20 theme:

How about one of our illustrious Commode d'Or? (just anyone but me!)

Those photos are all great. How about one with the whole boat showing, and the single hander clearly enjoying him/herself? While Max does seem to be enjoying that .... tootsie pop..., a pic of him sailing would be great. And come to think of it, if we had one of Max on his boat that would represent the club perfectly. Specially if he's dressed like Sean Connery. Well, no that would be asking too much. With Max on the Calendar we can market the club like American Express credit card does: "Commodore Max Crittenden - member since 19__."

Max is brushing his teeth - in spite of Synthia's contention that solo sailors lack personal hygiene.

Be sure to peruse these links. (http://www.sfbaysss.net/showthread.php?t=654) Some may require permission since you plan to make a bunch of copies.

This is the sort of thing I had in mind. With LaDonna's permission, of course. If anyone is interested, I could have some printed up @ Kinkos in time for tomorrow night's meeting. No rush.

Damn. If you use me on an SSS poster, I might actually have to join the SSS!

I have to say that this photo from the Vallejo 1-2 (https://picasaweb.google.com/SSS.Pictures.09/VallejoIIIPics#5529892077269390226) really makes me want to take Idefix down to the Bay Area and race with you guys. That one would get my vote... If I had a vote.

Hey, If the poster's going to advertise the 3-Bridge, I think one of the "race deck starting" photos showing boats going everywhichway but south would be best. They really demonstrate the "fiasco" aspect of the event.

I do think the Vallejo photo is beautiful.
