Agree, but it's a "pacific proa" design, and those keep the ama always to windward, so the boom rotates to leeward and then they hoist a jib on the 'new' bow.
And, if you google "Russell Brown"...

The new Pogo 30 looks very nice too... that swinging keel...
I've been reading a lot about pacific proas lately, first drawings of what could be a very interesting one: Bieker's 32' proa .

Hi,
Does anybody use the NAM model? it's 12km grid and runs all the US coast and almost to hawaii (and back :-) ).
It was the highest resolution model I found about a year ago, and I displayed...
I did quite some shorthanded ocean miles on a 34 footer with a Monitor windvane and, if you have enough apparent wind, it's just fantastic. The easiness to set, fix and the lack of any noise makes...
You can also see 'normal' NOAA GRIB files on my blog here .
Knowing where they are is very cool...
Thanks for the great coverage and also for the updates on FB!

Hi all,
Thanks for your words of support! Things are slowly moving, as I just got the check from the insurance, and that definitely helps! (but it'll still be uphill for a while...).
In any...
Hi all,
Thanks for the comments, I made it to the lifeguards boat just before she turtled... it would have been pretty messy otherwise.
I remember just having two plans on my mind: how to get...
Oh, I'm sorry... I really feel your pain...
Want to borrow mine? It's the one I brought 714 from Europe, a very good one with mechanical brakes... It has the keel height for a series boat, but it...
No...
I had a business trip and spent thanksgiving week out of the country, so I couldn't deliver the boat to Cabo as planned. And I had to travel again during Christmas week so I didn't had time...
SF to Tahiti or Marquesas would also be my preference.
But, of course first I'll have to race to Hawaii in 2012. Actually I hope to start making things happen racing PSSA's Bishop Rock next...
Thanks!
Went sailing yesterday and she sailed beautifully... it was very light (less than 10kt), but with 4 persons on board we did very well. Now I need some more breeze and more miles.
A bit...
I know, I know, and I'm very proud of it!
Thanks for the comment. It's been lots of fun to write...
May I ask if you checked the 'weather' page and if it worked for you? (it does not work yet if...
I just wanted to point out that having a SHTP every other year is very very attractive to an outsider (not too far away and not too short so we can make it happen).
And we all know what happens...
Well, I've never seen a Moore 24 sailing in real life (specs look really good, though!), so I should not join the race-within-the-race as of now.
But I'll do my best to take a good photo-finish so...
My $0.02 (and I know I'm not a member...):
Having the SHTP every three years seems too far apart for somebody (like me) who missed it. And also for somebody who does not feel like going to Tahiti...
Koh Samia is a proto in spirit but a 'series' (fiberglass) in construction...
My current plan (after the current repair process) is to sail down to Cabo around thanksgiving (solo and nonstop)....
It's a big longer than the second leg of the transat (3700 vs 3100 miles), but I think that could be lots of fun... if we manage to find a place to store all the water!
What's wrong with a LA...
Thanks Bob,
It's been a long journey, but if everything stays on track I should be sailing with new rudder (and steering) system soon...
Somehow funny that I'm more or less at the position I...
Very nice Adrian!!
And very interesting that the lack of minis doing the SHTP is being stressed over and over... sorry guys I disappointed you so much ;-)
I just hope planets align in 2012 and...
Hi,
I wanted to let you know (even, though, you probably knew already) that Koh Samia will not be at the starting line next weekend. Too many issues with rudders and tiller on my classification...
I bought a class-B transponder...
My main reason was not the 'extra safety feeling' (even, though, in certain foggy and windless conditions like last weekend it may be an extra level of safety),...
This is fantastic!
Now I just need to draw some lines and "A" buoys on a chart to be able to follow...
Thanks a lot!
Santi
Can't wait to get the next chapter!! But I'll wait for the commercials meanwhile... ;-)
Thanks!!!
Santi
I was thinking about Pasha, but I'm not sure they have the facilities (hoist,...)

Hi all,
this is my blog: http://www.kohsamia.com/blog/
I still don't know if I'll be able to update it while racing, but most probably not...
