Yep, starting to get excited for the race. I'll risk exposing my super secret, sure to win, detailed plan. :p
10:02 start for Roxanne
Blackaller
Red Rock
Treasure Island
All subject to...
I moved from an old Raymarine Autohelm to the EV-200 on my Tartan 4100.
Improvement? Yes
Perfect? No
Your line "It's not so good over 20knt in wind, worst downwind if there is wave over 4 ft."...
I have to admit I would have quit by now if I was able to get out there. Looks like patience will win this one. Cheers to those hanging in there!
Nice Brian!
I was impressed by the way you called it in very calmly. :)
Thanks for the link to the pix and thanks to Jonathan and Christine for taking them!

Ha! Also didn't capture the one word I said very loudly when the furling line on the genoa snapped just as I came along side the island. :)
First timer and I am sore this morning!
Couple of minutes of video. My gopro died on the way out, so some stills near the end. Shot of the whale I saw just north of the shipping channel....
Looks like forecasts for Saturday afternoon have moved from pleasant to 'interesting'.
Yes, I read that as well. It was a Swan 44. Link here:

It made me get a galerider for my set up.
I'm embarrassed...
Makes sense in my experience. Me and the usual crew take at least 1 bonine tablet starting 1-2 days before departure and then once a day on a trip. Works for us.
ps - 9 axis sensor for $20

Going back to the original poster's question, what about alternatives?
I went with Raymarine primarily because it plugged in to my legacy system... and would go that route again on a price for...
I have the EV-1, but with a linear wheel drive. Boat is Tartan 4100, so heavier. Comparison might not be valid, but for what it's worth...
I came from a Raymarine Autohelm and it is a great...
The SI's have a finish "between a red or orange marker on the Richmond Yacht Club race platform and buoy G “7” Fl G 4s in Point Potrero Reach,"
I think I found "7", but can somebody point out...
Thanks and the new one seems manageable. ;)
The number of flares is rough, but at least I don't need to design an e-rudder (drogue seems ok) or get a trysail fitted.
Just completed this course over the weekend. It was great - very much worth the time. Thanks Bob and all for the recommendation!
Yep, I had the same plan to do RR first at a 10:02 start. Instead of abandoning the plan when stuck with no wind between Angel and Alcatraz, I waited it out and ended up retiring near RR. :)

Thanks to the race committee for a great day!

Agree with Bob's comments in general, but especially these two:
I have a deep second and a drogue for an emergency rudder. I really hope this is sufficient as I doubt I will get a true...
Wow. 344 registered as of this morning with one day to go. What's the record?
Agreed. Would like to avoid manufacturing a new hatch board, but may need to.
The hatch shall be able to be secured in position by the skipper whether inside the yacht, or on deck.
Yeah, that would be an issue for me. I can close the hatch from inside, but it only locks...
On ROXANNE, I was just going to attach the two hatch boards to the companionway steps via a lanyard and a couple of eyestraps screwed into the hatch boards. Too simple?
Her companionway is entered...
Some competition for Iridium. Maybe in time for the 2021 LongPac :)
