Great. Do we know if this container is from one of the last two big container spills in the north Pacific? I suppose the drift is similar to that of the debris field generated by the Fukushima...
The adventure definitely isn't over! Cruising that area...just as desirable as a circumnavigation in my book. Hope to see it one day too.
Too bad, but the right decision. Commiserations Whitall...
Indeed! Well done Whitall. Something probably every single handed sailor dreams of doing. He made it happen. Self funded and self navigated. Respect! Long way to go to complete the trip, but a...

Whitall is closing in on the Horn. The weather looks challenging to say the least. Hoping for the best....the rudder bearing issue doesn't sound good
Robin Knox Johnston used an Astrolabe to cross the Atlantic in Suhaili. He is after all, a famous circumnavigator.
These are also known as structural rivets:
From the blog: I will say that despite some setbacks, the longer I’m aboard the more confident I grow.

Nice job Randy! Way to represent and good training for the shtp next year :)
Nice job with the sailing and narrating. Thanks for doing this
I believe the Vesper has SWR meter built in. That will tell you if the antenna and coax to it are ok. The other thing that would stop it transmitting is if it doesn’t have a position it’s happy with.
Run whatya brung! Will we see you in the SHTP next year?
Hi Rob, I have sold and installed the cobham fleet one. This is a nice unit as you explained. I usually install an optimizer/firewall that also generates a hotspot, and if using WhatsApp costs...
Since all the racers are in their boats and cannot read this thread, armchair sailors are curious about some of the tactics. Is the Wind shift the only reason For this approach?
Also closer to...
Thanks for your feedback Mike. It does make sense as a backup or even primary for the budget conscious. I deal with a lot of commercial Tuna fishermen, and this is attractive to crewmen as they...
Has anyone in the forum tried one of these?

It seems to be a much better deal than the inreach/Garmin or the Spot. Thinking about becoming a dealer.
Great! this will be interesting. Thanks for doing this
A week out from the original start date, windy shows the high far north with a rhumb line racecourse.
Another fast year? Will we ever see a “normal” year again?

That looks great!
Lol! Good onya! Recently the trophy’s have been carried by the boats in the race. I think in 2010 one boats was asked to carry them all, which hardly seems fair ;)
Agreed Bill. Hope you enter again, would be fun to see you in Hanalei again.
