Santa Cruz 27 Crazy Rhythm for sale
After 27 wonderful years and many adventures, including SHTP 2018, it's time to let my wonderful SC27 find her new companion for future fun and excitement....
BobJ, if you buy a few of those bomber jackets I think Prada might be able to afford a new jib for the pictured abomination. Do your part!
I just spotted this after posting some items for sale. I have an EPIRB and water jugs available. I have a few tethers, somewhere, too. Sorry, but I ebay'd the Iridium GO a month or so back.

Only a year and a half after the fact it's time to divest the SHTP stuff. I have the following items available:
4 SOLAS parachute flares (expire 08/20)
4 SOLAS handhled flares (expire 09/20)
2...
Nice analysis, DaveH. I'm having difficulty imagining the dory is less maneuverable than the tri (it even has brakes if those oars are used in that fashion) so I have to go with rule 13, overtaking....

The washer shaped doo-hickey for rudder appears to be made of phenolic sheet of perhaps 1/8 inch thickness (or maybe 1/16, hard to tell in pictures). This is good stuff and readily available and easy...
Thanks Dazzler. I'll give Dave's a call.
I have a vague recollection of seeing something in the not too distant past about a diver being available for a prestart scrub. But can't seem to locate anything in this area here or in the emails...
Thanks Rob, Philippe and Smoke,
It sounds like I am using the same process Philippe described. Unfortunately, I have no external antenna. My testing thus far has been from my backyard with a...
Philippe,
That sounds better than my Thursday is looking with working until noon or 1 p.m. then a run up to Alameda to sail to CYC and then grab a ride back to Alameda to retrieve the car (thanks...
That seat is some kind of scary. Reminds me of the first generation Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles." (And I hate to admit but for a moment there I thought you meant Skip when you said...
Congratulations to Carliane. Wish I was headed up to Quinn's for dinner right now but too many things to do. What's your call sign Carliane and will you have HF radio on board for SHTP?

Just to close out my earlier post. I got ahold of Larry this evening and he did confirm the dates all the rest of you probably already had. He told me he will be collecting the trailers from Matson...
I've been unsuccessful getting a hold of Larry Conklin to confirm his planned dates for pulling boats in Nawiliwili. I need to to change my flight plans but wanted to confirm before making the change...
The plaque/sculpture is aswesome. I bet that was a great party, sorry I missed it. Okay, back to work. There is a start line in the all too near future. (Do the lists ever get shorter?)
I might have an interest in adding a few items. Possibly an outboard (although it is damn hard to use with the e-rudder mounts in place). Larry on Kauai suggested locking the lifting eye to the...
The folks on that "almost a hood ornament for a container ship" J/24 clearly had not been using my outboard, Old Unfaithful. now I think I need to go spend a minute with a map to calculate which side...
You're scaring me, Bob! Kind of did that in LongPac 2015...

Thanks Dave. I talked to Larry on May 4th and again on the 6th. (He called me, not exactly sure why since he just discussed the same things we had previously talked about. But it was nice to know he...
Once upon a time, before I had any gray hair, I was asked to deliver a boat from Berkeley marina to Alameda marina in early December. Made it out of Berkeley harbor ok and then was becalmed about a...
Hope your mom is doing better very soon, Gamayun. I know how difficult these things cam be. And my parent's are on the same side of the country.
And a big thanks to David for doing the webinar...
First the pole:
I'm hunting for a whisker pole in the 13 to 14 foot range to use for poling out my jib when I am too tired to fly the spinnaker. (Based on my fatigue cycle in last year's LongPac I...
Alameda Marina is down to just the single 3 ton hoist at the far end of the yard and there are spaces available. Tugs for trailers are not typically used although I have seen a couple over the years....
Or a LongPac in around 16 hours (assuming the usual extra 20 miles or so tacked on to the calculated 400 nm). Or a Farallones in just a couple of hours. Somebody needs to calculate a 3bridge start...
