    Default The Fishing Thread

Last weekend, after noticing all those fishermen out before the RTR and reading how the halibut and stripers are in the Bay early, I went fishing and actually caught a fish. Right outside the Alameda Estuary, about 1/4 nm off the rock wall.

Then we went home together and had tempura.

Are we fishing or racing on Saturday? Just inform me of the parameters of the day and I'll adapt. Fish guts all over my foul weather pants? You're the skipper.

Please do tell more. What did you use for bait? is that a striped bass? And, of course, how was it?

Striped bass, caught while slow trolling and bouncing on the bottom with a dead anchovy. Motoring. It's very hard to go slow and steady under sail, especially by yourself. Also, sailboats are not good fishing platforms, no bait well, rigging everywhere, etc. but of course it has the benefit that I already own it.
