Theres a procedure to self right an f27. Fold one ama and flood. Slack shroud by releasing tensioner to tilt rig. Once upright , unfold, , retension, bail IIRC. google should find it..here it is http://www.f-boat.com/pages/backgrou...zearticle.html

It also reminds that Urs (Bridgerunner SL33) put a self inflator on his masthead.

One safety note for multihull speed is to use it to avoid bad conditions. In the case of Transpac at night- advice of Peter Hogg is to reef down main so you can release headsail sheets to depower- also remember you wont be sailing DDW so heading down is depower too.
    Here's Peter on a beach cat :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95c5ZM_y79U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95c5ZM_y79U

Gino and Pete Melvin were on board too (and Stan?)- probably will be up for RBBS. Worth trying to chat with them- they do small cats too

Beach cats have crossed the Atlantic and the Pacific multiple times singlehanded, and Yvan Bourgnon from Switzerland has almost circumnavigated a beach catamaran.

I'm not super serious about this endeavor yet, but am just curious if it would be allowed. It has been on my mind for quite some time.

    Thank you,

    Ronnie Simpson

edit: per reviewing the rules, this rule would likely pose a problem. if a multi-time race veteran showed up with an otherwise sea-worthy vessel that didn't meet this rule, would it be possible to get an exception or waiver?

    5 ADDITIONAL MULTIHULL REQUIREMENTS
5.01 Multihull yachts shall meet the requirements of RRC Rule 3 and 4 as well as the following: [a] A combined length and beam of at least 40 feet, with a minimum beam of one half the length.

You might want to read the DHF99 stories. F31 lost (and made it to the channel islands). Wild ride on F25c . Cruise on Seawind. Harvey Schlasky (you won the memorial in 2012) was lost. http://www.sfbama.org/fs/index.html

Also DHF95 when Peter lost Mama Shama's Aotea

To defend my misquote above. I was reading the latest edition of Classic Boat Mag. and the editor in the opening editorial used the same quote that Nightmare used only attributing it to TS Eliot. Now who can blame me for trusting the editor of Classic Boat over some bilge rat that belongs to SSS. I think it was Classic Boat, maybe it was Better Homes and Gardens, I also have subscriptions to Poke or is it Thrust, I don't know, I get mixed up

Is your point Robert Crawford at 63 was old?...and a Cal 20 is a far cry from a Beach Cat. Anyway, Peter has just forgotten what it was like when he was young and bold and sailed half way around the globe in a 100 year old wooden boat. I believe he misquoted T S Eliot then. In the end it doesn't matter who said it as long as they're dead.
