I know everyone is just dying to see how the RoG build is going and there has been some progress in the shop.

But first, JF won his division in The Everglades Challenge this year.

Progress has been made in the RoG shop. I built the rudderhead. Started out with some off the shelf transom pintles from RigRite.Name: pintles.jpg

Finding some stainless steel tube with the right ID turned out to be a challenge. I had to drill out some existing stock from McMaster. I sleeved them in fiberglass to separate the steel from the carbon. Richard made me some blocks out of Bubinga, a crazy-hard hardwood from Africa.Name: IMG_1946.jpg

I don't intend to clear coat it so there's some fairing here and there.Name: IMG_1977-a.jpg

Getting it off the mold took some serious persuasion.

I had already made the tiller but realized I’d have to modify it to use the st1000 tiller pilot I have.

Just noticed this thread today. The work seems to be moving nicely. From the computer screen, there seems to be good attention to detail.

Going back to initials posts where small boat options were bantered about, here is one for the small, carry the boat enthusiast. My storage inventory includes a Folbot Big Glider with a sailing rig. It is in surprisingly good shape for the age. A modest price will make it yours. It is currently in Bodfish, but I will be making Bay Area trips in the future for possible delivery.

Sorry, if this hijacks the thread, but this post can be considered a small reward for those following the build.

No worries on the hijack Ants but how about a picture of your Glider?
