There is a great article in the new Small Craft Advisory by Paul Kamen on his voyage from Richmond to Stockton on his son's El Toro.
Lot's of good ideas for how we could make a SF RAID.

Agree that threads are meant to be broken. Yes, Ants! We love looking at boats boats boats. And if there's some background we learn a little something about you, too: like whether you work in your driveway (like Alan) or in a meticulous workspace, like Stephen.

Here is a happy and quick correction, the Big Glider is not mine any more, but rather Sled's.

As for pictures, I am a few steps behind. Step 1 is to read the forum directions on photo posting. Then there is some inertia on my part to over come.

An El Toro through the delta with be a hoot. The Bodfish fleet still includes a couple of Sabots.

I have been retired since '04, and still can't find time for all the fun things to do. But, I keep trying.

    Looking good!!

I absolutely think that an SSS RAID up the Delta would be a great idea.

Well Alan I guess we're going to have to organize it. I won't have a boat for a while so I'll drive the SSS Protector chase boat the first year.

    We don't have a...?

Should we start a SF Bay RAID thread?

What have I been missing here? Who are we going to raid?

I'm not sure what it stands for, and I think it's roots are Northern European, but a RAID is a group cruise of small sail and oar boats. The Everglades Challenge and the Race to Alaska seem to be spawned from the idea. AlanH would know more.

I'm proposing a bunch of small boats put in at Horseshoe Cove under the Golden Gate Bridge and cruise (race?) in company to somewhere up the delta, anchoring, beach camping, marina camping, along the way.

    Sounds fun right?

    What's your small boat?

I've tried this before without a lot of traction but we could sure try again.
