I'm writing a feature story for "Lat 30" about the Drakes Bay races. I'd appreciate some short comments about your race. I already have comments from some sailors, so don't duplicate. Any photos? Thanks, Pat Broderick email: broderic at sonic dot net
And, yes, mastering - or trying to master - Wyliecat sail trim takes time and patience. The bendy mast allows the top of the sail to open in higher breeze. When the wind's up in the mid-20s into the 30s I'm often sailing on the bottom 1/4 of the sail. The rest is coming along for the ride. Looking up and seeing the Windex almost 5 feet to leeward can be disconcerting until you get used to it.
