    Default First Singlehanded Voyage

I have not yet made my first "overnight" single handed voyage. I've been at sea by myself, plenty of times; but never overnight or away from shore. Based on a fictional average speed of about six knots, it appears that most destinations are within a two-week sail; but again, I'll be by myself.

What do I do, when I get tired? Do I heave-to, anchor at sea, throw-out a sea anchor and drift, until I wake-up? How is this done?

    Thanks

You can do all of those things depending upon conditions and/or water depth.

Most boats on trans-ocean passages will continue on under autopilot, wind vane, or some other form of self-steering while the skipper sleeps. On trans-ocean trips the water is usually too deep to anchor, therefore heaving to becomes a viable alternative if you want to stop the boat to get some sleep.
