Well, the rudder didn't go on, on Saturday as the box from Jamestown distributors didn't get here with the bolts. However, the trailing edge of the rudder is a lot more fair, now! Aslo, turns out that the bushing material that I use on the Wildcat will work as a bushing for the bottom of the Piper rudder. WIN.

    Little bits of progress...

turns out that church has an 1850 watt portable generator I can use for as long as I want. It hasn't run in a LONG time, so I'll get a spark plug and change out the gas, but if it starts, I now have electricity at the boat. This is HUGE.

The cockpit shelves got glue'd and screwed back together and the second coat of paint is drying as I write this.

and the teal Ottertex...PVC-impregnated fabric for the cockpit cover, arrived yesterday along with outdoor thread. It's beautiful stuff, not breathable like sunbrella, but 1/3rd the price and there will be a large opening at the back of the cover for ventilation, anyway.

The crack in the aft seat gets glu'ed tonight.

I just thought I'd post a pic of one of Alpha's sisterships...her "color twin" hull number 52. My Alpha is hull number 35.

Long overdue update....Alpha has a matching cockpit cover, sewed by me out of teal green Ottertex, a PVC-infused outdoor polyester. That went on the boat in November. The inside of the hull has been washed, and 25 years of Sierra Foothills red dirt dust is mostly gone. Most of the interior of the hull has been rough-sanded get off the flaking paint. The easily-removable wood bits have been clear-coated or painted, and I just cut down the old skerry mast to make a boom. Cleats are on, the vang fitting is on, the aft mainsheet u-bolt is in. I just have to install the hardware for the aft part of the outhaul and the reef point, though you'll notice that the boats in the picture above don't have reef points.

Although Scotland has a serious COVID-19 problem, four people have died in the country and they are on a "restrict movements" semi-lockdown as well, the class Championships are scheduled for August 15-16. I'm thinking that all this should be over by then, and if there's a "second wave" it will hit more like October, so I'm planning on going. The Class President has assured me that she can find a boat for me to crew on.
