Default SSS ers in the R2AK

Here's our favorite ZYC Race Creator, on her way to the R2AK with some lunatic friends. Are YOU coming to Port Townsend this year? If not, why not?

Shad says that Dark Horse is already in Port Townsend and her peddle drives are working fine. What does that mean? Well, since Shad will be aboard again that probably means that Dark Horse will be a serious contender, and surely the prettiest boat on the course.

Wed., April 24 - Send Off Party for RYC Team engaged in Race to Alaska

Team Shut Up and Drive, skippered by member Nathalie Criou, will be racing under the RYC burgee at this year Race to Alaska, an unconventional race with only two simple rules: no motor and no support from Port Townsend to Ketchikan.

Nathalie, with the support of the Richmond Yacht Club Foundation, will be taking her Figaro 2 to the Pacific Northwest and represent the Club in the Oregon Offshore Week, the Swiftsure Classic and Race to Alaska. For the latter, she and her team have transformed Envolée into a Bike Boat.

Come and give them a proper send off next Wednesday, April 24 from 6pm to 9pm. You will be able to check out and even try the Pedal Drive mounted on the boat, mingle with the team's Millennials, get a close look at the Bucket, challenge their mostly shirtless cyclists and generally learn about what it takes to go all the way to Alaska with no motors, no support and no toilet.

The team just wants to share their passion and show the result of months of planning, training and hard work, sweating and puffing (apparently a French expression) however there will be ways to further support them. You can participate in or donate items for a small informal auction (contact Nat at nathalie.criou@gmail.com). Additionally, there will be some branded merchandise for sale or you can donate directly to the Team's athlete account (tax deductible!).

The team will be offering appetizers and non alcoholic beverages, the bar and the galley will be open. Full details about the campaign available at nathaliecriouracing.com.

No need to RSVP, just show up!
