Hmm, this could be fun. I'll have to set aside a bit of extra time to work on this . . .

Default needs improvement: I was unable to register

I went to register shortly before midnight last night, and it let me start the process but then not finish it. As of 00:01am, the site said that registrations would close at 00:30 but wouldn't let me register.

I submitted a "help" request via the site, and also emailed the race committee, but so far haven't heard back. I understand that the club is run by volunteers who have day jobs may not be able to check email during the day -- does anyone here have a recommendation for how to get in touch with someone? I'd really like to do the race, and had the website cooperated I would've submitted my entry (just) in time.

    thanks,

    Hi Will,

Contact Thom Davis at tpdavis@yahoo.com. Good luck.

BTW contact information for the SSS board is posted under the "Contact" tag on the SSS home page.

Thanks! I've dropped Thom a note. I'd found the contact info on the website but wasn't sure which officer was relevant, so my initial email went to sail@sfbaysss.org.

    Hopefully Thom can help.

    Thanks again!

Thumbs up Yah, it needs work but it is OK

There is Zero likelihood that the 3BF could have had more than 300 entrants with the "OLD PAPER" system. Fact of life, one person cannot do data entry for 384 people. Given the handwriting of the folks who send in their paper, PLUS the fact that some are not able/willing to complete even the paper form correctly...

Yeah, the Regatta Manager folks have quirky software, yeah, some of you got involved in filling out ALL the PASSPORT forms that they have under Passport INSTEAD of only the Race Entry forms that were required. Yeah, the Membership Manager software has many bugs...

BUT, unless everyone wants to pay for custom software (I figure $10K), these folks are "in the business" and so we will continue to use them for 2009.

I will help anyone who needs help to traverse the pitfalls of the systems, but on-line entries are here to stay.
    Respectfully, Thom
