I ran across Wilbur on Chubby Girl this morning at BMC while running errands. Had read his story in Latitude 38. He estimates 2-3 months to HI at 2.5kts. She is one very small boat! http://chubbygirlcruising.com

That's a nice photo and provides lots of details on the boat setup. I wish Wilbur well in his passage.
The Moore 24 will never seem small in comparison to Chubby Girl.

Hey, Rick! I go to Berkeley Marine Center on "errands", too. Usually I pick up groceries or vegetables at Berkeley Bowl for cover.
There's always something cool to look at when I drop by Cree's boatyard. Week before last I drove over to pick up a new anchor rode from Rogue Rigging. Here is Ryan Nelson's boat, all ready for Round the Rocks. What is her name? What else: ROGUE
This past Wednesday I drove over to greet Philippe and Changabang. As he entered the Berkeley Marina he accomplished the obligatory "Aground" at the entrance. Do I have a photograph? Well, sure.
Cree boarded her at the fuel dock and backed her into the lift. In gusty afternoon wind. Cree can drive anything.
SF to SF was Cree's idea of sailing around the world. He has graciously given Philippe permission to use the phrase in his own upcoming circumnavigation. Cree continues to help sailors realize their dreams. In his boatyard right now there are only the most recent three vessels, small, bigger and biggest. Or maybe Chubby Girl has gone off already. Cree has seen 'em come and go. Maybe next year will be the year the Partridge Flies Away.

Philpott’s post reminded me that I had noticed this 2008 Mini Transat 650 One Design - $44,000 (Buford GA) on Craigslist. Looks to be very well equipped and ready to race.

This is the Rosso Dino Ferrari Enzo. From where Ryan got his idea? Orange = Fast.

Looks like a "big" step from the first Chubby Girl.
There's a guy...Adam somebody, who has videos on YouTube. His first one is a video of his passage from LA to Hawaii in a Ranger 23 and it's pretty interesting. Once he's in Hawaii, he goes for a sail with a cute lass who singlehanded a big, heavy cruiser...a Rafiki 35, or something over. He asks her "how long did it take you" and they both had times like 28 days, or something.
It makes me think that us SSS'ers are pretty fast at getting over there. I can't imagine doing that for 2 1/2 months.

17 days. But you know, I too a Ranger 29 over in 1996 and that was 16 days and change.
Here's Adam's video of the Ranger 23 crossing. I think he sailed most of the way with a reef in the main.

This is the video, sailing around Hawaii with Olivia on her cruiser.

The part where they say how long it took them is about 2/3rds of the way in.

Chubby Girl is heading back to BMC. Gallant try but by Wilbur but with multiple failures he made the right call. Wishing a safe return to you Wilbur....
