    Default Round the Rocks 2021

    Hello SSS !
Having done the 2020 RTR singlehanded, I was pleased with the separate course options and I felt it spread the fleet out nicely. I would hope we follow the same format again this year.
Thank you for all that you do to let us race in these difficult times.

Here's another vote for putting DH and SH on separate courses.....for all In-the-Bay races that have both DH and SH fleets except the 3BF.

Share a start line and finish line....fine. But different courses, and no sharing the same last leg to the finish.

Sounds like a great solution but I also have no idea how this would work in practice. We all start the same direction and then head out on 'separate' but equal courses is easier said in my mind. We had all anticipated a choke point a Blackaller but it came at Southampton.. So I support the idea of the separate courses if it can be done but also concerned that maybe it's a lot to ask from the organizers. I was googling Southampton and came up with this old bit of info (which probably everyone else knows).

I would add that considering changing the traditional Start order of the Vallejo 1 from slow boats first to fast boats first might alleviate congestion around the Brothers/ pt.Pinole, but that may be an unnecessary nuance.

@Alden - as Rebecca mentions in the OP, the SSS did this last year with RTR and it worked great.

Both the YRA and Richmond YC have abandoned the Southampton Shoals Light Platform as a mark on their courses. Too dangerous with all the piling collapsing and other debris. Instead the Richmond YC has moved its "Bob Klein Buoy (yellow) to a location 200 yards North of the platform.

Yeah I was surprised to see sh on the course last week. Glad nobody banged into it.

well, i tried really really hard to (lacking a "dumb-ass" emoji here)

Agree it should likely be stricken from the list (I believe this is the only SSS race with it as a rounding mark)...
It's a problem rooted in recycling SI's and race calendars... I think its laudable that the RC attempted to recreate the spirit of the SSS Corinthian course, despite COVID moving the start to GGYC, but there was a trick missed there.

IMO, simply moving the mark to the Bob Klein Buoy might not have helped much with the everyone approaching from the south in light air into a full-moon ebb.
    but that's probably picking nits
