    Default SHTP Trophy Refurb:

The Jim Tallot ULDB Trophy (Kyle won this in 2021) has become a larger project than anticipated. To remove remnants of the old corroded plaques is requiring sanding and re-staining the base. All plaques have been refreshed for consistency. Space is being increased for future races. So far the carnage includes one sander up in smoke (see photo). Name: SHTP_JimT_Trophy.jpg

Does your mother know you're playing with those tools, Brian?

Such a worthy project - thank you for taking it on! I could probably find Synthia’s trophy spreadsheet from 2008 if needed.

Does that hand cover the non-ULDB that got the trophy over the actual ULDB that won?

What year are you referencing ? This would be a good time to remove any boats that don't belong on the trophy. Everyone send in your lists

Default Trophy Round 2 - First Pass Fail

I sanded the old surface down to bare wood, thought I had all the old name plague discoloration worked through. Alas, a test coat of stain and they re appear ! Time for another pass at sanding more material away. Anyone have a big planer in their wood working collection ?

I know an SSS sailor that is a fine woodworker by trade and has a shop in Novato. Want me to ping him.... I'm sure he's donate a few passes in the planer.

Maybe. Let me try another pass with sanding. Novato , while a nice destination, is a long drive from Los Gatos.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Bob,

My boat suffers from lack of varnish care and here I am working on a trophy !
