Default RSVP for IN PERSON awards and gathering at Vallejo Yacht Club, Sat. Aug. 27, 2022

We are planning a late midseason awards gathering at Vallejo Yacht Club on Sat., Aug. 27, 2022, 5-10 p.m.

We have burgee flags for the division winners from 3BF and all races to date. Shirts from this year’s Farallones and Long Pac.
Also, we have a number of unclaimed plaques from last and past seasons. In the pipeline is a raffle for some goodies, too.

The Bar will be open and SSS will have the premises. Hamburgers, Hotdogs and fries at the usual low pricing.

Come out to see your SSS friends and you will be guaranteed a free SSS t-shirt from past seasons.

Please RSVP as soon as possible directly to Daniel Willey, our Rewards and Recognition director at danieldwilley@hotmail.com.

We know it's a huff to get to VYC, but what's distance between friends, especially our first gathering.

    Thank you,

Thanks for organizing this meet up! Great idea!

It'll be good to see people in person.

Can we raft at the VYC overnight or should I get a slip next door at the municipal dock?

I need some downwind practice before the Vallejo I-II in Oct.

That would be some good practice!

VYC said that we can raft up like most would normally do at V1/2.

Look at all these things that need to be handed out or taken by another: Plaques from selected races of the 2021 season, a few Overall Season Winners (since when did we give plaques out for that!), Long Pac 2016 fleece pullover for Nina, and 3 gill jackets to raffle.

This Saturday, 5-10 p.m. Aug. 27th, Vallejo Yacht Club, drive or sail in. If you have not already, RSVP to Danieldwilley@hotmail.com. About 30 attending as of last week. Bring a guest or a recruit if you'd like.

Two boats on the water sounds like a race. I will look for you after I splash!

Had a nice sail up to VYC Saturday.
    A little more wind than predicted, glad I didn't hoist a 150!
Got blasted getting to Red Rock from Richmond, then had a nice reach run to Mare Island Straight.
Tied up in front of the club with Matt/Starbuck. Fugu arrived a little later with Chris, Joan and, (sorry can't remember their dog's name)

I enjoyed seeing everyone and meeting a few new folks.
Good dinner of burger and fries with watermelon, ice cream to top it off.

Up early Sunday to ride the ebb back. Again windy.
Tucked in a reef as soon as I got out of the Straight.
Deep water was really choppy with high 18-20 against the current.
Kept to the shallow 10-12 foot range on the south side as much as possible.

I had my dog with me and due to the conditions kept her below.
Maybe not the best idea since she got sick.
Fortunately it was contained to a small area.
Can't blame her, I would have gotten sick if I had to be below in those conditions!

Back at Marina Bay got things cleaned up and put away ready for the next adventure.
Home in time for supper !
