    Default AIS transponder

After searching everywhere I found a AIS transpounder, apparently they are designed for commerical and offshore fishing . I can't find a VHF switch to the antenna. Even the HAM oulet in Alemeda does not have something that will work. Since every boat in the race has to have one where do you get a AIS/VHF antenna switch.

You could use two separate antennas for the VHF and AIS. That's what I'm doing. Since a spare VHF antenna is required in case the mast comes down (or was that just for the LongPac?), I can disconnect the AIS and use its antenna for the VHF.

Milltech Marine has splitters, receivers, and transceivers. http://www.milltechmarine.com/
I think WM now sells the stuff too. There are a lot of places.

As for disconnecting one for the other. I have found that I usually like to monitor the ship and perhaps talk to her at the same time. A handheld VHF may cover you for that.
