    Default The new boat

Well, after being boatless for two years, I've committed to buy the "next boat". It's a bit different from the Santa Cruz 27! It's a Chesapeake Light Craft "skerry". Think Danish faering meets Gunning Dory, in 15 feet.

CSL makes do-it-yourself marine plywood kits. This one is half done...the hull is together and the rubrails are on, but pretty much everything else is left to be done.

You can see some examples here:

Though I will be setting the boat up with a totally different rig than what the kit comes from. I hope to be sailing and rowing by Thanksgiving!

That's a good looking boat Allen. Reminds me of that boat Dawn and Paul miller had. The Rozinante. "Honelee"

Looking forward to building you a purple, orange, and green stripped sail to match my hair color.

    Hi Alan,

Nice boat but you better keep your knees together if you're wearing your kilt.

Make sure you keep it locked down. A few years back I built the CLC pram, just to have it stolen from the marina. They are beautiful boats.

    Default Got clamps???

    Hi Alan,

Like Dan I also built the CLC Pram several years ago and amassed a mess of clamps which I'm happy to loan you if you see the need for them. Fortunately I still have the pram, albeit it's now hanging from the rafter ties in my house. Guess it became a bit too precious to leave at the docks after an additional 30 hrs of brightwork.

    Cheers,
    Chris
