Electrical Budgets

As part of the SSS TransPac race entry, each competitor is required to submit an electrical budget worksheet.

Typically the yachts are operating a number of electrical systems, such as autopilots, performance instrumentation, radios, all of which are powered by electricity stored in the on-board battery bank.

Each competitor in the SSS TransPac race from San Francisco to Hanalei, Kauai (Hawaii) is required to meet these two rules:

4.21 A mininum of 2 batteries with a combined capacity of at least 120 amp hours.

4.22 A means of charging the batteries at sea at a rate that will allow the running lights to be used during the period of darkness each day.

In the interests of sharing the experience of the competitors, here are the electrical budget worksheets submitted by the 2008 TransPac race competitors.
