Dec.8, 1982. Not a hurricane. But put more than two dozen boats on the beach at Cabo, including JOSHUA. An Olson 40, NOTORIOUS, survived the best. Picked her up off the beach, onto a trailer, and towed her home to Santa Cruz. All the while JOSHUA was filling with sand in the shorebreak as BM walked the beach, wringing his hands. Festive.

If you're having a bad day, besides Macapuno icecream and lemon bars, CBC offers this service free of charge: https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comment..._medium=mweb3x

Petting the hands of an otter? [this video can't be played]

Ok. That might make me feel better.

Ants has graced us with a splendid visual of Alex Bratenahl, the VOYAGER navigator:

Despite various clues, my traditional thinking showed a navigator on board his vessel sailing along to his destination. So, it will take imagination or an artist to put the image on canvas - Milly’s Dad (shirtless of course), sailing the the 110 FUN across the cosmos, with his sextant in one hand, the Voyager in the other, and Canopus below the 37 latitude so it was visible for a stellar sight.

    Cheers,
    Ants

The Otter obviously likes it. That would make me smile in any case.

Two Dozen boats ? That is a very exposed anchorage in a southerly. The only hurricane I was ever in ( New England ) the eye went right over us and we went outside to see the eye wall, which was astounding. It was eerily silent and there were tons of birds trapped in the eye.

Given the colors, you would be forgiven thinking this is the 110 fleet at Inverness YC. Nope, it's the fishing fleet at the Portuguese town of Fao. A good friend is hiking the coastal "Camino Portuguese" on a 300 mile pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in NW Spain. Have any readers trekked the the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James) a large network of ancient pilgrim routes stretching across Europe and coming together at the tomb of St. James in Santiago de Compostela?

A couple of former co-workers did it. Apparently there are two approaches. The ascetic approach is one, but so many people make this pilgrimage that you can also stay in luxury digs the whole way, which is what they did.

I have friends who have done it. These fishermen know the " No white boats" Rule !
