    It is pleasant to paddle the ocean
    With ocean galore within reach,
    And nothing at all to be done:
    No letters to answer,
    No bills to be burned,
    No work to be shirked,
    No cash to be earned,
    It is pleasant to sit in my boat
    With nothing to do but to float.
    How pleasant to look at the ocean,
    Democratic and damp; indiscriminate;
    It fills me with noble emotion
    To think I am able to swim in it.
    To lave in the wave,
    Majestic and chilly,
    Tomorrow I crave;
    But today it is silly.
    It is pleasant to paddle the ocean;
    Tomorrow, perhaps, I shall swim in it.

    You have read my mind, and written the words below!

    Living on the sea my friends
    Is gonna keep you free and clean.
    But for now we wear our rubber boots
    With breath as hard as kerosene.
    Where we'll get the bread to go
    Ain't nobody knows.

    HAULBACK was a pirate ship
    Jim's hull as fast as polished steel.
    Her captain sailed 'round the World
    And lassoed logs for his next meal.
    Soon we'll meet the fleet you know
    On the docks of Richmond Club.

    Our loves may cry when we say goodbye
    And sail into our dreams.
    But all the Race Committee will say
    "They'll be there any day"
    To gather 'round the Tree.

    And GREEN BUFFALO sails the blue
    All day long like she's built to.
    And SIREN surfs in BUFFALO's wake
    With SOLSTICE close in classic duel.

    The history books tell of the General's trips,
    And kite's are flying from the CARROL E.
    But Hanalei's quiet til' they round the Point
    Then dogs a barking at the Hula Tree.

    And all the Race Committee say:
    "Soon they'll be coming any day"
    With slack key strummin' in the sunset breeze.

    Hi Ants, Yes, that's sleddog paddling inbound shortly after sunrise in post #5841. And sleddog paddling outbound in post #5847. Early mornings best time with little to no traffic, and light winds/smooth seas. After passing the lighthouse outbound, I turn 90 degrees past the end of the west breakwater and paddle .5 miles towards the Santa Cruz Wharf, rounding the CG buoy and return.

    It was T-shirt weather racing 110's today at Inverness in WNW 8, gusting 15. The decks were dry, water and air temp both 66. The new class rule advocating using 120% jibs rather than 150% genoas is a big plus making for more tactical racing, better viz on the leeward bow, and lighter crews being competitive.

    One fleet 56 member sails his 110 singlehanded from the trap. As well, I've discovered in breeze > 18 knots, the 110 is as fast or faster upwind under main alone. Pop the spinny at the windward mark, and Bob's your Uncle.

    Alfred, Lord Sleddog!

    It sure seems like you are having a grand old time discovering a new one design, with this 110.
    1968 Selmer Series 9 B-flat and A clarinets
    1962 Buesher "Aristocrat" tenor saxophone
    Piper One Design 24, Hull #35; "Alpha"
