Hey Max, thx for lining this guy up, what a great talk! Not that I ever tried playing chicken with them big ol' ships, but shocking to know the immense difficulty of maneuvering those things. I'm now much more inclined to call them up on Ch 13 if I have any hint that our paths will cross.

Yes, David was outstanding. Another sailor, not preachy, but wow.
Imagine a Catalina 34 with a rudder the size of a cell phone and propelled by an engine with only 1/3 of a HP (.33 HP). That's the typical container ship in exact proportion. Then they have a "blind spot" of almost 1/4 mile ahead.
