Thank you for your 2020 SSS Membership and welcome aboard!
Our Race schedule for 2020 is:
- January 25 Three Bridge Fiasco Bay
- February 29 Corinthian Bay
- April 11 Round the Rocks Bay
- May 16 Singlehanded Farallones Ocean
- June 27 Singlehanded TransPacific Ocean
- August 22-23 Drakes Bay Ocean
- September 12 Half Moon Bay Ocean
- October 17-18 Vallejo 1-2 Bay
- November 7-8 6th Annual Cruise-Out/Not a Race
The races are evenly divided between in the Bay and Ocean. For the past four years the SSS joined OYRA for Drakes Bay and that weekend is back by popular demand. The perennially popular Half Moon Bay race will return in the [usually] lighter winds of mid-September.
If you are thinking of doing one or more of the ocean races, and have not completed a Safety at Sea Seminar, then you may want to check out the US Sailing seminar schedule at: http://www.ussailing.org/education/safety-at-sea/find-a-seminar-near-you/. Alternately, US Sailing is now offering the Coastal Safety at Sea certificate as an online course. http://www.ussailing.org/education/safety-at-sea/#1489094752924-0e0580b2-20c5
2020 brings the 42nd edition of The Singlehanded TransPacific Yacht Race, from San Francisco to beautiful Hanalei Bay, Kauai. The SSS runs a series of seminars geared to preparing yourself and your boat for this challenge; All are encouraged to attend, learn and share your knowledge.
The success of SSS over the years is a result of the efforts of members and individuals who step up to work on committees, events, and races. If you decide to sit out a race, drop us an e-mail – we can always use an extra person on the race deck. If you have a sailing experience you would like to share, why not give a presentation at one of our meetings? If you have ideas to make the SSS better, contact any of us and we will listen.
Fair Winds, Safe Sailing, and Lots of FUN!!!
